The BFI IMAX celebrates its 25th anniversary this spring, and to mark the milestone they are bringing back some massive IMAX favourites to Britain's biggest cinema screen!
25 years ago, the BFI IMAX opened its doors to the public for the very first time in South Bank. One of only four cinemas in Europe that can screen IMAX movies on 70mm film, the BFI IMAX is as tall as five double-decker buses and has an impressive 12-channel sound system, that makes watching an IMAX film a cinematic experience unlike anything else.
To celebrate their 25th birthday the BFI IMAX is bringing back some all-time IMAX favourites, including several of maestro Christopher Nolan’s most iconic films, as well as adding another screening of the recent smash hit Dune: Part Two and both of James Cameron's ground-breaking Avatar films.

Demand for special screenings like these is always very high, so we highly recommend booking your spot as soon as possible! And keep an eye on the BFI IMAX website for any extra screening dates coming up. General ticket sales open online to the public on Thu 23 May at 12pm noon.

The biggest IMAX experience of 2024 is back once again! The BFI IMAX is the only place in Europe where you can watch a 70mm IMAX print screening of Denis Villeneuve’s epic sci-fi saga, adapted from Frank Herbert’s spellbinding novel.
