Valentine’s Day is coming up and South Bank's restaurants are turning up the romance with a host of special menus on 14 February. Here’s a look at where to book.

OXO Tower Restaurant

Both the restaurant and brasserie at rooftop restaurant OXO Tower present special Valentine’s Day set menus on 14 February, with live music playing throughout the evening adding to the romantic atmosphere.  Choose from three courses at the Restaurant (£170 per person), with options including Dorset crab risotto and oysters thermidor, or a three-course menu at the Brasserie (£125 per person), where highlights include chimichurri prawns and roasted seabass. Both dinners include half a bottle of Champagne for the table.

Brasserie Blanc

Let love take centre stage at Brasserie Blanc Southbank on 14 February. The three-course Valentine’s menu includes options such as cured chalkstream trout tartare garnished with avocado and trout caviar and slow-cooked beef marinated in truffle butter. For dessert there’s Opera Millefeuille or a show-stopping Baked Alaska to share.

Skylon

Feel the love at the Skylon restaurant and bar at Royal Festival Hall this Valentine’s. Be serenaded by a live jazz trio and gaze over the river Thames (or into each other’s eyes?) as you indulge in a decadent four-course tasting menu. Start the evening with a glass of Nyetimber Rosé and Jersey rock oysters before tucking into delicacies like beef carpaccio, roast duck breast, lobster and pan-seared cod loin. The dinner costs £100 per person including welcome glass of sparkling rosé.

Hannah Japanese Restaurant

Feast on a unique 12-course omakase tasting menu this Valentine’s Day at the exclusive Japanese omakase restaurant Hannah at County Hall. Created by chef, owner and sake sommelier, Daisuke Shimoyama, the gorgeously presented omakase dinner is made with the finest seasonal ingredients carefully sourced from top producers and costs £185 per person.

Sea Containers Restaurant

Raise a toast to romance at Sea Containers Restaurant on 14 February, where the evening’s four-course set menu begins with a glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne and Maldon oyster, followed by beef carpaccio, Cornish stone bass and ending with a delicious Valrhona fondant. The dinner costs £75 per person including welcome glass of Champagne.

Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a picture-perfect view over the river at Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar at the Marriott at County Hall. The Valentine’s menu is made to share and is available from 10 to 14 February. Dishes on offer include an extravagant H Forman and Son Fish and Seafood Platter, a 35-Dry aged Chateaubriand and to finish Tiptree lemon curd and chocolate cheesecake with rose meringue. The sharing menu costs for £125 per person and includes a complimentary cocktail.

Côte Brasserie

Celebrate Valentine’s a la Française at Côte Brasserie at the Royal Festival Hall from 12-18 February. This year’s Valentine’s dishes are all about sharing. Choose from a côte de bouef and passionfruit and white chocolate profiteroles to share (£80 for two with cocktails, £150 with a bottle of Laurent-Perrier Cuvee Rose) or simply head directly to the sweet course with profiteroles and two glasses of Champagne for £39.95.
