25 January marks the birthday of the iconic Scottish poet Robert Burns. In Scotland and beyond the date is celebrated as Burns Night, with haggis, bagpipes, poetry readings and a dram or two of whisky.
If you’re looking to celebrate Burns Night this year, take your pick from these South Bank events.
Get ready to be whisked away to Scotland with an unforgettable night of Scottish music, dance and food at 26 Leake Street’s annual Burns Night Celebration on Thursday 25 January, hosted at their brilliantly atmospheric underground venue hidden in the arches beneath Waterloo Station.
The evening begins with an indulgent five-course feast with Scottish salmon, haggis and cranachan all on the menu. There’s also a selection of whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries, a traditional piper to pipe in the haggis and of course plenty of music and dancing with a live ceilidh band to take you long into the night.

The elegant Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar at the grand Marriott County Hall hosts a special whisky tasting evening in honour of Burns Night on Thursday 25 January. The renowned spirits experts, Berry Bros. & Rudd will be presenting their Classics collection, journeying through different key whisky regions and flavour profiles.
Discover four distinct, multi-award winning Scotch Whiskies including an Ardmore 2012, Islay Reserve, Glencadam 2011, and Sherry Cask Matured whisky. Each whisky will be carefully paired with a canape created by Executive Chef Jamie Welch and his team, complimenting the flavour profiles of the fine spirits and inspired by the Scottish landscapes from where they originate.
