South Bank pop-up regular Truffle Burger are teaming up with hip street food brands from France and the US for a unique series of pop-up collabs this summer.
Elevating the humble burger to a higher state of deliciousness with the addition of decadent truffle, Truffle Burger’s South Bank pop-up underneath Hungerford Bridge has become a local favourite.
For this year’s pop-up the Truffle Burger team are doing something a bit different, and are joining forces with their fellow street food innovators from overseas to present Truffle Burger & Friends. The Truffle Burger hatch will be back in its usual prime spot below the bridge, while a second space next door will be used as a regularly changing pop-up collab spot.
Every few weeks a different special guest will be flying over to take over the collab spot, bringing a truly international street food offering to the riverside.
First up on the collab roster is a Harlem institution synonymous with soulful southern American comfort food, Charles Pan Fried Chicken (popping up from 2–18 May). Hailing from Harlem, New York, Charles Gabriel has been described by Eater NY as “one of the great chefs of our era”. His pan-fried chicken, accompanied with typical southern sides like collared greens, yams and lima beans, has a deeply devoted following in New York.
Other collabs coming up through the summer (dates to be confirmed) include a UK debut for French lobster roll aficionados Homer Lobster; New York burritos courtesy of Forsyth Fire Escape; Mexican-American creations from the Michelin-listed Austin-based Nixta Taqueria; and two more NYC favourites, Bodega Truck with their signature chopped cheese and Utopia Bagels, straight out of Queens.
