Housed in eight recycled shipping containers arranged on two overhanging levels alongside the Southbank Centre, Wahaca Southbank serves up their award-winning Mexican street food with unrivaled views of life on the Thames floating by.
You can also get the taste of Mexico to go with Wahaca's takeaway burritos and salads available from the Mexican Street Kitchen truck parked up alongside the river.
At Wahaca, you don't need to book either. Staff always keep unreserved tables spare.
Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is a major event in the Mexican calendar and every year Wahaca goes all out to show off the joyful and colourful atmosphere that makes this such a popular celebration. Until 12 November there's Calaca crafting activities for kids inspired by the brightly coloured 'calacas' (life-size skeletal figurines) and a host of new dishes on the menu such as Grilled Achiote Seabass (£32.95) - a whole filleted fish with charred pineapple salsa and nutty salsa macha, and the irresistible Catrina’s Chocolate Orange Margarita (£9.50), named in honour of La Calavera Catrina, the iconic skeletal figure that’s synonymous with Day of the Dead.
Put some Mexican spice into this year's festive season get-together with Wahaca's Mexican Christmas menu. The three course set menu costs £35 per person and includes, nibbles seasonal small plates, and a decadent dessert. Options on the festive menu include tasty nibbles like plantain and chorizo bites, mains such as beef gringa tacos and for dessert Christmas churros served with a rich chocolate and dulce de leche sauce.
If you are a larger group, book for Wahaca's 16-seater private dining room with its fantastic river views! The Christmas menu is available from 20 November to 24 December.
