Love is in the air in February as South Bank's restaurants and cultural venues celebrate Valentine's Day! 

From decadent dinners to romantic film screenings and quirky experiences to enjoy a deux, we've rounded up all the many ways to celebrate Valentine's Day in South Bank this year.

Valentine's Dinners

Raise a toast to romance this month by booking a table for a special Valentine's dinner at one of these atmospheric South Bank restaurants.

Modern Love at Skylon

Feel the love at the impressive Skylon restaurant and bar at Royal Festival Hall. Joining Southbank Centre' 75th anniversary celebrations, throughout the year Skylon is paying tribute to the many icons who have played this most famous concert hall, starting with David Bowie. This year's Valentine's menu, titled Modern Love, is a Skylon take on modern romance. Couples can look forward to a decadent four-course menu featuring dishes such as grilled sea bass, 'prawn and lobster toast', dressed Cornish crab and for dessert, cinnamon-baked apple and pear crumble.

Prosecco Valentine's for Two at Locale

Book a table for an Italian Valentine's Day dinner at Locale restaurant, next to County Hall. The set menu costs £60 for two with a glass of Prosecco each and a sharing starter to begin, followed by a choice of main course each, with options including penne alla vodka, tonarrelli carbonara, linguine di mare or gnocchi zucchini, followed by a classic tiramisu to share for dessert.

Pie Experience at Lasdun

For Valentine’s Day, Lasdun, the elegant restaurant tucked away inside the National Theatre, is offering a relaxed, indulgent Pie Experience designed for sharing with a loved one. Guests are welcomed with a glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne and bar snacks, followed by Lasdun's famous signature sharing pie, two seasonal sides and a glass of wine each.

Parisian Valentine's at Côte Brasserie

Celebrate Valentine’s a la Française at Côte Brasserie at the Royal Festival Hall from 9-15 February with their special week-long Parisian-inspired menu. Dishes on offer include a Côte de Boeuf for two (with free-flow frites of course!), a white chocolate and passionfruit mousse and to toast the occasion, a Lillet Valentine's Spritz. Dishes are available a la carte, and on 14 February as part of the Valentine's Day Set Menu (2 courses for £32.50, 3 courses for £37.50).

Forza National Theatre

Treat your beau to dinner for two at one of South Bank's most popular wine bar-restaurants, Forza at the National Theatre. Known for their excellent sharing plates and playful desserts, this stylish spot is always a winner for dinner à deux. For Valentine's, Forza is offering a four-course sharing menu for two that includes oysters with pickled rhubarb, winter tomatoes and ricotta salata with guindilla, bavette with peppercorn sauce and deep-fried spuds, and for dessert, blood orange panna cotta.

Valentine's Day menu at Brasserie Blanc

Let love take centre stage at Brasserie Blanc Southbank where they are running a variety of delicious specials especially for Valentine’s week, including betroot-cured Chalkstream Trout with horseradish sorbet, an assiette of lamb, and for dessert, raspberry and ruby chocolate tart. For £55 per person you can enjoy two courses and a complimentary glass of Lanson Rosé, or mix and match your favourites from the a la carte menu.

Bring Your Crush Valentine's Special Pottery Class

Classic romantic films at BFI Southbank

BFI Southbank is serving up the perfect Valentine’s Day date night selection of films on Saturday 14 February. Grab some drinks from the bar and settle in with your love to enjoy one of this year's romantic film screenings including: Three Coins in the Fountain, a 1954 rom-com set in Rome, the gorgeous French period drama Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Portrait de la jeune fille en feu) and Mississippi Masala, an underrated cross-cultural gem from 1991 starring a young Denzel Washington and Sarita Choudhury. Emerald Fennell Curates “Love Stories” at BFI IMAX

Complementing the release of "Wuthering Heights", director Emerald Fennell curates a “Love Stories” season every Sunday in February at BFI IMAX. Highlights include a lunchtime screening on Sunday 15 February of Baz Luhrmann's iconic 1996 Romeo + Juliet.
