The Sidings at Waterloo Station summer piano competition

31 st July 2024

Running throughout August, The Sidings at Waterloo Station has launched an exciting new competition, especially for pianists!

The Summer Piano Competition invites local pianists to come and show off their talents at the station’s very own community piano.

Located in the ‘Orchestra Pit’ at the entrance to The Sidings centre, the recently installed community piano is a collaboration with local partners including Morley College that aims to bring more musical creativity to one of London's busiest stations, and to make pianos more accessible to the wider community.

What’s the competition and how do I enter?

Throughout August pianists of all skills and ages are invited to come down, take a seat and share a performance.

To enter the competition - simply set up your phone camera, hit record and play your tune. Then upload your video clip on Instagram or Facebook and tag @sidingswaterloo to be automatically entered into the competition.

The station judges will select a winner based on a range of criteria including creativity, originality, and overall performance, with £500 up for grabs for the first-place winner!

When is the competition open?

The competition launches on Saturday, 3rd August at 11:30am with two live performances by the inspirational Daniel Wilsher, one of the most captivating performers on Channel 4’s piano competition The Piano.

The competition closes on 31 August and winners will be announced on 20 September.
