6 new openings coming to South Bank this spring

Comedy, karaoke, Lebanese cuisine, indoor golf and Paddington Bear himself, there's a host of exciting new openings on the horizon this spring!

Here's the lowdown on the newest restaurants and attractions opening in South Bank in the coming weeks that you don't want to miss...

The Paddington Bear Experience

WHEN: Opens 31 May 2024. Tickets on sale from 4 March
WHERE: County Hall

The eagerly awaited Paddington Bear Experience promises to bring the world of everyone's favourite bear to life, right here in South Bank. The unique and fun-filled interactive experience will include numerous themed rooms to explore, interactive games, character interactions and surprises. During the experience visitors will board the train to the Brown family home at Windsor Gardens where they will help Paddington and family prepare for a very special occasion – The Marmalade Day Festival.

A special Paddington Bear shop experience, Mr Gruber's Shop (pictured below), inspired by the charming antiques shop in the Paddington stories, officially opens at County Hall from 1 March. Find out more here.

Big Belly Comedy Club

WHEN: From 8 March 2024
WHERE: South Bank Central, 30 Stamford Street (behind Sea Containers London)

This year the leading South London comedy brand Big Belly Comedy Club, gets even bigger with the launch of a permanent South Bank venue at South Bank Central. When fully open, the new club will boast two comedy stages with a combined capacity of 300+. The first section of the club, the Big Belly Bar, opens on March 8 with comedy nights featuring four fresh stand-up acts happening every Friday and Saturday. Comptoir Libanais

WHEN: From mid-April 2024
WHERE: Southbank Centre

Serving delicious Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisine from breakfast right up until dinner, Comptoir Libanais will be taking up a prime spot facing the Royal Festival Hall from mid-April. Diners can look forward to a wide array of Lebanese mezze favourite, classic Levantine breakfasts, traditional drinks like refreshing homemade lemonades, rose mint teas and great Lebanese wines, all served in a lively colourful atmosphere. Recently rated by Time Out as one of the best Lebanese Restaurants in London, when it comes to flavour, these guys really know what they’re doing! Caddi Club 

WHEN: From late March 2024
WHERE: Southbank Place (opposite Shell building)

This indoor golf facility brings world-class golfing opportunities right into the centre of London. There are four golfing bays fitted with TrackMan technology, where you can play over 300 world-class courses, plus an indoor putting green and the opportunity to take lessons with a professional coach. Operating on a membership basis, the club also has a member's lounge and bar for those post-round drinks. Lucky Voice 

WHEN: Spring 2024
WHERE: The Sidings

London’s favourite karaoke bar Lucky Voice is coming to South Bank, opening at The Sidings centre adjoining Waterloo Station, where you can also find other popular brands like BrewDog and Nando’s. The latest addition to the Lucky Voice family, which includes locations in Soho, Holborn, Liverpool Street and Islington, will boast eight state-of-the-art private karaoke rooms and an intimate speakeasy-style bar area to keep the party going long into the wee hours.

Popeyes

WHEN: Spring 2024
WHERE: Waterloo Station (near the Waterloo Road entrance)

The American fast food chain Popeyes, known for its crispy Louisiana fried chicken, is rapidly expanding in the UK and in the spring they are set to open a new branch at Waterloo Station. The brand has quite the cult following in the US with celebs like Cardi B, Justin Bieber and the Kardashians all devout fans. In 2009 Popeyes even provided their signature fried chicken at Beyonce and Jay Z's wedding! The Waterloo Station branch will open from morning to evening, serving their full menu including Popeyes breakfast favourites.
