Celebrate Afternoon Tea Week in South Bank

13 th August 2024

The fluffiest scones with jam and cream, dainty sandwiches, the cutest little pastries and endless pots of the finest tea – Afternoon Tea is the perfect way to treat yourself, and a quintessential London experience.

Every year in mid-August the city celebrates Afternoon Tea Week with hotels and restaurants bringing together special offers on their classic afternoon tea experiences.

This year’s Afternoon Tea Week runs from 12 to 18 August. Here’s a look at what’s on offer in South Bank.

Complimentary cocktails at Oxo Tower

The Afternoon Tea offering at the rooftop Oxo Tower Restaurant, Bar & Brasserie is a classy, contemporary affair. A modern cake stand piled high with fresh and inventive sweet and savoury bites is paired with a choice of the finest teas or cocktails. For this year’s Afternoon Tea Week you can enjoy a complimentary cocktail made with British craft gin label Silent Pool.

Choose from the Rose Clover Club cocktail, made with Silent Pool Rose Expression gin, vermouth, lemon and raspberries, or the zesty Bee’s Knees, with Silent Pool Gin, lemon and honey water. Find out more and book a table here.

New London Eye Lounge Afternoon Tea

You can now enjoy a classic Afternoon Tea with a front row view of the iconic London Eye at this new afternoon tea, launched this August at the London Eye Lounge inside County Hall. The afternoon tea menu is a traditional take on the experience complete with miniature Victoria sponge cakes, scones with jam and cream, chocolate eclairs and cucumber sandwiches plus a box of macarons to take home as a gift. Sparkling Rose at The Library

One of London’s favourites, the afternoon tea at the London Marriott County Hall is served in the grand surrounds of the building’s Edwardian Library which boasts impressive views of Big Ben and Westminster Bridge. The exquisite patisserie is as pretty as picture. The summer fruit tart with custard and the raspberry and passion fruit delice are pretty as a picture and bursting with flavour. The rhubarb and custard cheesecake with jellied mango is another must-try!

Especially for Afternoon Tea Week this elegant spread is paired with a glass of the exclusive Louis Pommery England Rosé. Find out more and book a table here.
