Timed to coincide with the confirmation of Sarah Mullaly as the new Archbishop of Canterbury, the latest free exhibition at the Lambeth Palace Library traces the Archbishop’s role across centuries of English and global Anglican history.
On display are rare artefacts from Lambeth Palace (the historic home of the Archbishops of Canterbury) alongside archival objects and materials from the Library’s own vast collection wich contains priceless manuscripts dating back as far as the 9th Century.
The exhibition reveals how Archbishops are selected and enthroned, and explores the ceremony, duties and global significance of the office and the evolving responsibilities of the position.
