Academy Award winner Rami Malek and Olivier Award winner Indira Varma star in Ella Hickson’s intimate and revelatory version of Sophocles’ transcendent tragedy.
Produced in collaboration between the Old Vic and Hofesh Shechter Company, this new staging of the timeless Sophocles tragedy stars an A-list Hollywood cast. Oscar-winner Rami Malek plays Oedipus opposite Olivier-award-winner Indira Varma as Jocasta.
The play has been adapted from Sophocles by award-winning playwright Ella Hickson, whose previous plays have included a JM Barrie adaptation Wendy and Peter Pan, and 2018’s riveting play about energy, family and empire, Oil.
Co-directing this new production are Matthew Warchus and Hofesh Shechter.
