This wide-ranging season at the BFI mixes old and new films from around the world that all explore the notions of time travel.
The use of time travel as a plot device is no longer just a feature of sci-fi storytelling. It can now be found in everything from romcoms to crime thrillers. This season illustrates the use of time travel as a storytelling device across all kinds of genres.
The season includes famous TV series and films such as Dr Who and Back to the Future, as well as critically acclaimed cult arthouse features like Donnie Darko and Alain Resnais Je t’aime Je t’aime.
The season includes screenings at the BFI Southbank cinema and IMAX screenings at the BFI IMAX.
The films showing in IMAX as part of the season are: 12 Monkeys + La Jetée (22 Oct 11:30am), Terminator and Terminator II Judgement Day (Mon 30 Oct at 6:30pm) and the Back to the Future trilogy (Sun 19 Nov 11:30am).
