This huge season at the BFI looks at the cinematic artistry, skills and craft involved in creating iconic action sequences and films. Celebrating the extraordinary daring of actors and stunt performers across the ages, the Art of Action season presents a plotted guide through the history of action cinema from the 1920s up to the present day.
Among the many highlights of this huge film season are the chance to relive the thrills and spills of iconic films such as Point Break, Run Lola Run, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Seven Samurai and The Wild Bunch.
The season includes several action blockbuster screenings at the BFI IMAX, including all-nighters dedicated to the John Wick and Mission: Impossible series and the premiere of a new 4k restoration of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai.
Accompanying the film screenings is a special programme of talks and events at the BFI Southbank, including Q&As and panel discussions all celebrating the art of stunts.
