Nothing says Christmas in London quite like a festive evening out at the theatre. Whether you're a local or a visitor, everyone knows that when it comes to the best shows it pays to be organised and book ahead!

A Christmas Carol

Jack Thorne’s magical imagining of A Christmas Carol has become a regular annual fixture at the Old Vic, and year on year is a smash-hit sell-out show.

A unique ‘in-the-round’ staging brings the audience and cast closer together as the play progresses with music, dance, mince pies and a seriously heart-warming ending that will have you leaving the theatre feeling seriously Christmassy. For 2023 British big screen veteran Christopher Eccleston takes on the role of Scrooge.

Christmas Classics

Hit all the high notes as you sing along to your favourite festive classics with host YolanDa Brown and a sumptuous symphony orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall.

The songbook for the concert covers all the festive classics from ‘Silent Night’, and ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’ to ‘Winter Wonderland’ and ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ with a full philharmonic orchestra joined by a professional choir.

Roald Dahl’s The Witches

This year’s big festive season show at National Theatre is a brand-new musical version of Roald Dahl’s The Witches.

With book and lyrics by Olivier Award-winner Lucy Kirkwood, music and lyrics by Tony Award-nominee Dave Malloy, and directed by Lyndsey Turner – and of course Roald Dahl’s famous dark wit and imagination - it has all the hallmarks of a smash-hit in the making.

Bluey’s Big Play

This brand-new theatrical adaptation of the Emmy Award-winning children’s television series, sees the young puppy Bluey Heeler and her family brought to life with brilliantly created puppets.

2022’s Christmas season production of Hey Duggie! played to packed audiences throughout the festive season at Southbank Centre, and Bluey’s Big Play is highly expected to draw the same crowds!

Christmas, Actually

This festive variety show is curated by the writer of iconic Christmas film Love Actually and hosted in partnership with Comic Relief.

Richard Curtis has said the show will be “noisy and emotional, full of surprises and jokes with some proper celebrity sparkle”. An all-star cast is promised, performing powerful real-life stories, moving poetry and brilliantly terrible Christmas cracker jokes. Live music and a good old-fashioned festive singalong are also on the program.

Nutcracker

Dive head-on into a glittering winter wonderland at this immersive reimagining of the festive classic taking place at the Tuff Nut Jazz Club, a new pop-up jazz club under the Royal Festival Hall.

The show is led by dancers from the award-winning McOnie Company performing to Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score which has been reimagined for a live onstage jazz band by Mercury-nominated jazz artist Cassie Kinoshi.
