Led by Jon Rotheram, Tom Harris and John Ogier (the team behind the critically acclaimed The Marksman in east London), this chic restaurant at National Theatre is known for its exceptional brasserie-style dishes and elegant decor that takes inspiration from National Theatre architect Denys Lasdun's modernist architecture.
Lasdun’s menu is brought to life through a classic yet contemporary lens, featuring seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and showcasing the very best of British produce.
Stand-out dishes include Cornish crab with salt lemon and a saffron bun, whole Cornish John Dory, a delicious chicken, wild garlic and leek pie to share, and for dessert brown butter and honey tart and vanilla set cream, a dish that has become a firm favourite with London's critics.
As well as offering a full a la carte menu, there's also, of course, a great pre-theatre menu (two courses £32, three courses £38), plus on Friday lunchtimes they serve a fantastic value steak frites lunch for £20.
Guests can also drop by for a drink at the beautiful dark marble bar, with a carefully curated selection of cocktails, wines, oysters and small plates to choose from. For special occasions, a sleek private dining room is available for groups of up to 12.
Join the team at Lasdun on January 25 to pay tribute to the life and poetry of Robert Burns through the time-honoured tradition of haggis, neeps and tatties. The evening begins with a bespoke whisky cocktail, followed by three delicious courses that celebrate the best of Scottish produce.
Guests can look forward to a menu of Orkney scallop and seaweed butter, Haggis, neeps and tatties served with Lagavulin mustard and for dessert traditional Scottish Cranachan and shortbread biscuit. The menu costs £60 per person and tables can be booked here.
