This October the garden museum is celebrating Scottish artist and musician Rory McEwan with a luminous exhibit. Nature song will explore Rory McEwan's botanical works, alongside personal items, showing his creative process. The exhibit includes 50 botanical paintings, a selection of sculptures and experimental paintings, works in progress, brushes and diaries.
McEwan grew up on the Scottish borders, which greatly influenced his artistic vision. He originally studied at Eton, before attending the University of Cambridge in 1952. In the late 1950's he was a rising star in television presenting and had his first solo exhibition in 1962.
The current exhibition marks the majority of the works' return after two years of travelling across America to exhibitions. It will be accompanied by a public programme of musical and botanical events.
Come along to experience the "moment when painting starts to breathe poetry"- Rory McEwan.
