For one month every summer the National Theatre brings its River Stage to the South Bank. Presenting free performances by local artists and collectives on a pop-up stage outside the theatre every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, River Stage is always a fun day out for all the family.

This year’s River Stage festival runs over four weekends in July. Visitors can expect a high-energy, inclusive and participatory experience that features original dance, circus, theatre, drag and musical performances created by companies and collectives from across the city.

The Glory  

Fri 5 July- Sun 8 July

Hosted and curated by The Glory’s Grande-Dames of drag and performance, Jonny Woo and John Sizzle. They are calling on their top drag queens and kings, cabaret artists, DJs, and theatre makers to present probably London’s most exciting and radical, free weekend of queer music, performance and hi-jinx. Laugh, dance, cheer, create and commune by the Thames at this annual summer jamboree. Queer London at its best.

Greenwich+Docklands International Festival

Greenwich+Docklands International Festival brings their much-loved mash-up of vibrant, inclusive and disruptive summer fun to River Stage 2024. Marking the one-month countdown until this year's edition of the popular festival, this celebratory line-up of street theatre, dance and circus will delight audiences of all ages.

Rambert

Also based in South Bank, the brilliant Rambert dance company returns to curate another memorable weekend at River Stage. Join their talented teachers and diverse, inspiring artists for an unforgettable weekend. Experience awe-inspiring dance performances, exciting special guest announcements, and the chance to learn new moves, suitable for all ages.

Closing this year’s River Stage celebrations the National Theatre is throwing open its doors, inviting everyone to dive into the diverse delights of this iconic South Bank venue. Expect the very best in family-friendly theatre, dance performances, live music, workshops for all ages, an NT Live screening, and tours of this extraordinary landmark building.
