Playing across the BFI Southbank and BFI IMAX, this epic season celebrates Ridley Scott’s finest films. Showcasing titles chosen by the filmmaker himself, the season also includes a series of events that highlight his hugely entertaining and prolific work across a wide range of media.
Highlights of the season’s events programme include: Ridley Scott in Conversation at BFI Southbank on 5 October, a director Q&A following a screening of The Duellists (4 October) and introductions from Scott to Thelma and Louise (5 October) and at the BFI IMAX screening of Blade Runner: The Final Cut (4 October).
Other films featured in this epic season include Alien: The Director’s Cut, Gladiator, The Martian, Prometheus, The Last Duel, Black Hawk Down, American Gangster and Gladiator II, as well as a Short Film Showcase (3 September) and a Music Video Showcase (11 September), featuring work for artists including Madonna, Aphex Twin and Beyoncé.
Accompanying the film season is a free exhibition, Ridley Scott: Building Cinematic Worlds (1 Sep–5 Oct), that offers a rare glimpse into the director’s archive, including storyboards, film posters, clapperboards, and selected items from some of his most acclaimed productions.
