In this month-long season the BFI Southbank celebrates the work of the luminous actress Maggie Cheung. Though perhaps best known for her collaborations with Wong Kar Wai, Maggie Cheung has an impressively wide-ranging filmography that spans everything from martial arts to romance.
Film screenings on the month-long programme include critically acclaimed works such as Irma Vep, Hero and Farewell China, as well as multiple screenings of her most famous collaborations with Wong Kar Wai; As Tears Go By, Days of Being Wild and In The Mood For Love.
This gorgeous season includes special talks exploring her work and portrayal on screen. Look out for the illustrated panel discussion In The Mood for Maggie, and Philosophical Screens: In the Mood for Love , a discussion exploring themes of desire, longing and heartbreak in Wong Kar Wai's classic.
