Inspired by Garden Museum's new exhibition Seeds of Exchange: Canton and London in the 1700s, this festive evening at the museum brings together performance, craft, and ritual to explore the cultural journeys of plants, creativity, ideas, and traditions.

In addition to the opportunity to see the new exhibition after hours, the Lunar New Year celebration also includes a performance by Coco Shi featuring pieces from the traditional Chinese opera Peony Pavilion (Kunqu), a drop-in calligraphy workshop, the opportuntiy to join in a traditional tea ceremony and tasting (6.15pm-6.55pm) and a wonton demo and tasting with Yvonne Poon (7pm-8pm).

During the daytime the museum is also hosting a series of Lunar New Year-themed workshops for families, including:

Kids Crafting Workshop (11am–12.30pm and 2pm–3.30pm) the workshop sees kids creating pictures inspired by the museum's exhibitions and turning them into lanterns and fans to celebrate the New Year. These sessions are free but must be booked in advance.

Lunar New Year Cookery (11am–1pm)The museum's regular family and kids food learning classes cover age-appropriate knife skills, explore seasonal vegetables, and are inspired by recipes and ingredients from different cultures. For this edition, the class has a Chinese flavour with spring rolls, noodles and egg-fried rice on the menu. Costs £5 and must be booked in advance.
