Unarguably one of the most influential filmmakers of the last 50 years, David Lynch’s brilliance reshaped cinema, television, music, art and the internet, leaving his mark and creating some of the most iconic moments that continue to reverberate in popular culture today.
This month-long season celebrates the work of this cinematic visionary with screenings of his great masterpieces such as Blue Velvet , Eraserhead, Wild at Heart and Mulholland Drive, as well as his innovative and experimental short films, accompanied by a variety of special events.
Special events to look out for include talks, Lynchian Sip and Paint sessions, a David Lynch quiz night, Saturday night Lynch themed VJ set, and an immersive installation ‘Step into the Black Lodge’ that is inspired by the infamous Red Room from Twin Peaks.
On the opening weekend of the season the BFI also presents a preview screening of the new documentary film Welcome to Lynchland (Sat 3 Jan), and on 14 and 31 Jan there are screenings of Jon Nyugen's 2016 documentary David Lynch: The Art of Life.
