Occupying a discreet spot on the Waterloo Station Balcony overlooking platforms 1-4, the Well and Boot is a bright and breezy cafe-bar that's perfectly perched away from the hustle and bustle of the concourse, while also being literally a stone's throw from the trains.
From 7am (and from 8am on Sundays), the bar serves barista-made coffee and freshly-baked pastries for the early-morning traffic. Meanwhile, throughout the afternoon and evening, the focus is on drinks, including cocktails, wine, and plenty of beers on tap – paired with ‘pintxos’, small bar snacks popular in northern Spain.
Look out for a European-style ‘Aperitivo Hour’ from 4pm–7pm where your drink comes with a complimentary pintxos, such as bruschetta or parma ham, on the side.
The interior décor has been inspired by the old Art Deco-era Waterloo News cinema that once occupied this prime corner spot in the station, reflected in curved archways and marble countertops. The bar spreads across two levels with a second upper balcony accessed via a small spiral staircase that makes for a classy spot to sit and watch the hubbub of the concourse far below.
