Named after The Lion & The Unicorn Pavilion at the 1951 Festival Of Britain, this new Wetherspoon pub is located inside The Sidings, a shiny shopping and lifestyle centre adjoining Waterloo Station.
While many Wetherspoon's can be found inside historic buildings, this is a more modern affair, surrounded on all sides by glass walls. The decor designers have made subtle nods to South Bank's role as the hub of activity during the Festival of Britain with the patterns on the carpet (each Wetherspoon pub has its own unique design) inspired by the 1950s modernism of the festival pavilions.
The menu is typically vast and 'Spoons fans can find all their favourites, with of course prices as low as you'll find anywhere in central London.
