Halfway between Waterloo Station and the South Bank riverside, just a stone's throw from the Royal Festival Hall, The Archduke was among the first restaurant and wine bars to open in South Bank in 1979.
Thoroughly atmospheric and instantly recognisable by its striking location carved from under the railway arches, it has become something of a London institution. Owned and operated by Black and Blue Steakhouse, the menu dishes up fabulous steaks and wines and has a great value pre-theatre menu (two courses available until 7pm).
Food and drinks aside, The Archduke is also well worth visiting for its live jazz performances that take place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening.
