Marugame Udon

Located on the upper balcony at Waterloo Station, Marugame is an authentic self-service canteen that is inspired by the fast-casual sanuki udon venues that can be found across Japan. 

As you enter grab a tray and head up to the counter in the open kitchen to place your order. There are simple comfort food classics like kake udon (udon noodles served in an umami-packed vegetable broth) and more substantial udon bowls piled high with meat, vegetables and a silky smooth soft poached onsen egg too, as well as katsu, teriyaki and curry rice dishes.

For starters choose from a variety of freshly fried tempura and for dessert, there are traditional Japanese sweet snacks such as red bean dorayaki pancakes or chilled Little Moon mochi.

Wash it all down with a typical Japanese soft drink such as the iconic ramune bottled lemonade (often dubbed 'the taste of spring' in Japan), a can of green tea or opt for unlimited self-serve soft drinks.
