Busy Italian restaurant just a few steps away from Westminster Bridge and the lastminute.com London Eye.

The food on offer is responsibly sourced and reasonably priced for its central London location. The Italian menu is classically focused - think pollo milanese, linguine di mare and pappardelle with lamb ragu. There's also a choice of stone-baked pizzas, all topped with fior di latte mozzarella and many of the dishes on the menu can be prepared as gluten-free. For kids, the two-course children's set menu is good value.

On sunny afternoons the terrace that opens onto the pedestrianised Forum Magnum Square is a great spot to sit and linger with an Aperol spritz. Newbies take note: the place gets busy on weekends, so book ahead!

Festive feasting at Locale

This year's festive set menu at Locale is a three-course Italian feast. Choose from starters such as Caprese salad or Scottish smoked salmon, followed by traditional roast turkey or pan-fried sea bass fillet or keep things classic with Locale's signature wild boar ragu. To finish dessert options on the set menu include panna cotta, homemade brownies or Christmas plum pudding. The festive set menu costs £31.95 per person.

New Year's Eve at Locale

Located just around the corner from the London Eye, you can hardly get closer to the New Year's action than at Locale Southbank! The restaurant's New Year's Eve package includes a three-course menu and then following your meal step outside and you will find yourself right in the middle of South Bank's main ticketed viewing area on Belvedere Road. As with all venues make sure to follow the restaurant's instructions carefully regarding the tickets you will receive that will help you access the restaurant on the night. New Year's Eve package costs £95 per person.
