The Garden Cafe is the award-winning restaurant at the fantastic Garden Museum next to Lambeth Bridge.
Located in an impressive glass and beaten-bronze pavilion, the restaurant space was designed by Dow Jones Architects, with additional internal layout and design by Tom Benton Architects. The interiors are inspired by its leafy and calming surroundings and on sunny days the courtyard garden is a delightful space to enjoy a fabulous lunch.
The cuisine comes courtesy of Head Chef Myles Donaldson (formerly Head Chef at Noble Rot and at St John Bread and Wine Spitalfields), who serves up a daily changing contemporary British and European menu of light, fresh and seasonal dishes. There's a focus on using the best seasonal produce available locally and the food is accompanied by a finely curated selection of low-intervention wines, beers and cordials.
The daily changing menu offers a choice of three starters and four mains with at least one of each being a vegetarian dish. Always inventive and brilliantly executed, this is a great place to enjoy the innovative and modern British and European cooking styles that London has become famous for. Look out for dishes like beetroot soup with horseradish or chestnut semifreddo, mascarpone and chestnut shortbread.
The cafe is open seven days a week for lunch, with a dinner service on Tuesday and Friday evenings.
